Hello!
I'm Laurie. I have worked in design and marketing for almost twenty years. I have created more websites than I can count, designed numerous magazine ads, logos, mobile applications and games. Some of my favorite designs have been for product packaging and I've even designed trade show booths and point of purchase displays.I started my career in web development but slowly and steadily moved towards design. Over the years I've learned a lot working for different companies, all with unique needs. Although I focus mostly on design today, my technical skills still come in handy. Whether it's working with a programmer on a mobile application, or a print shop on a custom marketing piece, I have an excellent understanding of what is needed to complete a project.
Since 2014, I have been working with my own clients. This freedom has allowed me to travel full time while working remotely. I have also joined forces with other professionals, allowing me to take on projects of any size. If you have a project you would like to discuss or just want to say hi, feel free to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you!
The Rove Group
Logo & Website Design
Recently, I co-founded a small contract web design and development agency, focused on helping small to medium size businesses create a unique online presence using both social media and WordPress based sites. This company is where current and potential clients can go to see what services we can offer. The logos and website are my designs. The current website can be found here: TheRoveGroup.com.
Sound Hoof
Web Design
The owners of Sound Hoof are professional farriers who have developed a high quality, all natural hoof conditioner that is in high demand in the equestrian industry. The website and online store they had was not working well for their small company. They came to me when they knew it was time for a change. They wanted to keep the same look and feel to their site, but have it easy to manage in house. I recreated their website in a simple to use WordPress site, keeping all the features they wanted, with out anything they didn't needed. Now they have more control over their online presence, and can sell their products and communicate with their customers more easily.Their current site is here: SoundHoofCare.com.
Roving Squid
Game Design
Roving Squid is a small gaming and mobile app company focused on making games and entertainment apps for the mobile market. As one of the co-founders I have created designs for all the games, ads, online presence, and merchandise. We have developed and launched several successful games for both Android and iOS.We have also worked extensively with a third party to develop educational games currently being used in K-12 schools around the country, and around the world.
For fun, we often participate in game jam challenges, where we have built VR, 3D, and other experimental games in a short period of time.
You can view our game library on the website here: RovingSquid.com.
Equestrian Life
Print, App & Website Design
Equestrian Life was a niche specific social network for the Equestrian Market. As the Creative Director, I was part of a small team that maintained this system, as well as managed custom live event video streaming, designed all web, marketing, and advertising materials, and was in charge of community management. At it's height Equestrian Life had close to half a million users and produced over 100 hours of television programming.Today, the founders of Equestrian Life are dedicated to creating unique, luxurious, desert homes. I still work with them on occasion and maintain the current website, EquestrianLife.com.
Christian Haitian Outreach
Website Design
After hurricane Matthew decimated much of Haiti in 2017, I worked with two benefactors of the Christian Haitian Outreach to create a new online presence for the charity. While the country is still struggling to rebuild even today, the Christian Haitian Outreach is still supporting the children, orphans, and the poor of Haiti.Wild Things
Print, Ad & Website Design
For Wild Things Gear, an extreme cold weather clothing company, I was tasked with creating a new face for the company. I designed and built a new website, created new marketing materials, and advanced their advertising program to focus on new markets. New magazine ads were featured in The Alpinist, Rock and Ice, and similar publications.Wild Things tough, lightweight, technical outerwear, had also gained the attention of the US Military. I was able to work with the military to initiate a program to get feedback directly from soldiers wearing Wild Things clothing. I designed a small questionnaire card to military standards, which was inserted in each piece of clothing.
