My First Blog Post is a Lie!

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

That’s right, my first post here is a total lie. I did not, “created this site as a place to collect ideas and information about the web, social media, design, technology, food, and other fun stuff“. I don’t even like to write that much, unless of course it’s in 140 characters or less. So why did I start this blog? I started this blog to play around with setting up custom WordPress sites and learn how to use the application. My hope was to take on some new clients who wanted a business or personal blog, set up the blog & teach them how to use it. My main client, that I’ve worked for over 10 years, had less & less work for me so I needed to find something else to do.

In February of 2009 my husband started working full time with EquestrianLife.com. Later that spring they brought me in as the Creative Director. It has been a great job and really fun. What we are working on now is a full site redesign and rebuild. A lot of new features will be adding during the coming year, plus we will continue our live event broadcasts along with some other exciting things.

So, I’m pretty busy these days and don’t have much time or motivation to keep up with this blog. I’m not saying I won’t post here every once in a while, but probably not too often.

Moving - Part 3, 4, 5, etc.

Friday, July 31st, 2009

It’s been a while since I last posted. Moving 3 times in 6 months & having a new job can do that…

Anyways, our house in NH sold. It wasn’t even on the market 2 weeks! Yes, we got nickled & dimed and over all lost money, but not having to pay a mortgage on an empty house for the next couple years is worth it.

Unfortunately the buyer did not want the box of midget porn, but she did want our kayaks and brand new Temperpedic bed… SIGH…

Well, it’s over with now & we moved once again, from a temporary apartment in San Mateo, to a rental house in the San Carlos hills. We have an awesome view of San Mateo to San Jose, too. We’re still not completely settled in yet, plus there’s problems with the house like the lights, a nightly intruder I named “Ratty”, and getting Comcast to come out to our house for more than 5 minutes at a time and actually connect us to the internet, but over all we are happy here and hoping not to move ever again. Well, at least for a couple years…

Moving - Part 2

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

Last February my husband & I threw a few things in a Uhaul & moved to California. We were in a hurry and left a disaster at our house in New Hampshire. A couple weeks ago I flew back to clean up the mess and put our house up for sale.

I gave away some furniture, hauled a ton of stuff to the dump, and packed up the rest. I labeled all the boxes and stacked them in the closets so the house is not too cluttered for potential buyers.

Just in case some of these potential buyers get a bit nosy and start looking at the stuff in my closets, I left this box on top…

Strange Day

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

Yesterday was a strange day. Maybe it was the full moon?

My husband and I decided to go out and get some dinner. We’re driving through downtown San Mateo and had to stop because a car coming the opposite way wanted to pull in to an angled parking space on our side of the road. Surely the driver would have to back up & straighten her car out at some point, but did she? Nope. She hit a black pickup in the next space. Even that wasn’t enough to get her to go in reverse though, she gave it more gas and pushed the other car out of the way, shaking it all over the place, and finished pulling into her space. As we drove by we could see the door and side panel on the truck was all scratched and and had a huge dent. I would have stopped but there were no other parking places and the traffic was really congested. A lot of people were around who witnessed the accident though. I’m hoping the driver did the right thing and left her contact information on the dented truck.

We eventually ended up in Burlingame and parked in the CalTrain lot where there were a bunch of restaurants to choose from across the street. There was no traffic light to cross the road at, but there was a crosswalk with lights in the road to warn drivers when people were in the crosswalk. There actually wasn’t much traffic, just one car pretty far off, but we pressed the button to turn on the crossing lights and started across the road. Next thing we know there are screeching tires and the one car that had been far off was almost on top of us. That would have sucked if we were hit.

Maybe the driver that almost ran us over was the same one who hit the pickup, out eliminating any witnesses? Hmmm… Yesterday was a strange day!

Sunny California?

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

I’ve been in California for almost a month now and here is what the weather has been like just about every day:

So much for sunny California!
